About LotusRush

Last updated October 14, 2026

LotusRush is an independent website dedicated to one plant: the lotus. We publish clear, carefully researched guides on the different types of lotus, how lotus plants grow and work, how people use them, and what the lotus flower means in religion, art and everyday life.

Why a whole site about the lotus?

The lotus is one of the most loved and most misunderstood flowers in the world. The same word is used for unrelated plants, from the sacred lotus of Asia to the blue water lilies of Egypt and a small yellow meadow flower. Symbol guides often repeat each other without explaining where the meanings come from. We started LotusRush to give readers one place where the botany and the meaning are explained together, accurately and in plain language.

What we cover

How we write and check our articles

Every article is written by the LotusRush editorial team in our own words. We base factual claims on reliable sources such as botanical gardens (for example the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden), public agencies like the U.S. National Park Service, museum collections and peer-reviewed research, and we list our main sources at the end of each article. When traditions disagree, for example about lotus colour meanings, we say so rather than presenting one view as fact.

We do not give medical advice. Where an article touches on health, such as lotus supplements or blue lotus, we summarise what reputable health sources say and encourage readers to speak with a qualified professional.

Corrections

If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page. We review every correction request and update articles when we confirm a mistake.

How LotusRush is funded

LotusRush is free to read. To cover hosting and research costs, we may display advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisers do not influence what we write. You can read more in our privacy policy and disclaimer.
